I am composing a triptych for vocal quartet, commissioned by researcher Philippe Vandenbroeck. His research explores a new cultural purpose for the slag heap at C-Mine. On August 30, my composition will be performed as part of a one-day festival dedicated to this project. As part of this commission, Philippe and I took a walk on the slag heap. He captured our conversation in an interview—an exquisite piece of storytelling. With precise wording, he distills our exchange into a concise and vivid account. Click here to read.
